That is definitley true. You cannot referee a professional game the same as a club u14 game. It is a completely different game and not even comparable.

sf dad's comment trying to compare Maradona, Messi, and Pele to 13 year old girls is pretty comical. First of all those players were not great because they were small, they were great because they had extraordinary technical skills with ball control, dribbling, first touch, and tactical awareness, etc. The only aspect that would help their game from being small would be their center of gravity and being able to keep their balance while playing at a high speed. Besides that being bigger does not have much effect on the offensive side of the game besides maybe shielding the ball or finishing crosses. His excuses about being bigger is just not accurate and sounds like sour grapes.

Very well said. Good soccer IQ. Sour grapes indeed!

This thread started about how a particular team is the best team ever. I have seen some teams out there at this age that played really amazing soccer and at surf cup I was really amazed the beautiful passing of a team in a consolation match in the 05's. The only reason I ever chimed in is that I really hope that the obviously talented girls at San Juan 06's getting the coaching to play that amazing soccer that they are clearly capable of and not just chase victories. I'm sorry if my tone came off poorly. I never intended to say that they are not an excellent team. No comment I ever make is intended to criticize a child. Mostly, I'm pretty disappointed that the successful strategies that other countries are using to develop their soccer crazy kids is lost here because of the financial pressure of our system.

MVLA 05’s looked among the best I have seen in the 05,s but unfortunately they are off playing ECNL or up so I have not seen them in a while. Very curious how the MVLA, Quakes, Thorns progress with their different paths.

Now I understand. Thanks for clearing that up. I would hope we are all here for the kids.
The SJ 06 coach is amazing. He is able to keep everyone happy and teach/coach and the girls the right way. Not easy to do. My wish is for all the girls in NorCal to have wonderful memories of the friends they made playing a great game. Time goes by so quickly.

This must be why the State Cup Champion 05 coach went to Placer.

I think you called it too early GRAMPA 06. Let that be a lesson for the rest of us. You can’t crown a U12 team the greatest ever, especially since they haven’t even started playing 11v11. It’s been a quiet few months for this team. I saw they lost by 3 or 4 goals vs. an 05 team recently, at a tournament I believe. And they lost yesterday at Silverlakes vs. an 06 team. And to top it off, they didn’t make ECNL playoffs. Kickball eventually catches up to everybody.

I don’t understand why they didn’t make ECNL playoffs. Didn’t they win their division? And I would say to the above poster that I would rather have my team rest for a month and start off slow for the season. Hope we see them in 05 NPL again this year.

I did not look at that age group but it may be because of the smaller # of teams in the U13 playoffs means that you need to win the conference not the division for an automatic bid and then the remainder will depend on points-per-game.
