I applaud my friend, @TJsoccer , for the 2400th comment on this thread. This thread has sustained me through some of life's great challenges. Emerson said, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds". But we'd never call this thread "foolish" so I am in awe of its consistency.

Wasn't Adam Smith his buddy that went after the UC Davis kid?

Been awhile since I clicked on this link. Seems very quiet like youth soccer in general around here.
I guess most of the drama has died down. Some of the local regional teams look to be doing very well.
I think that San Juan 06 girls team has been #1 for a couple of years straight!

I know gotsoccer is very suspect (how many tournaments you attend/win) at times, but still a decent
gauge looking at regional and CAN teams in general.

Hope everyone is enjoying a soccer break at this time of the year since most clubs are thankfully closed
for the holidays. I know my kids are happy for the break.

I know you're not fond of FCEG, but it's somewhat unfair not to include Ormsby's FCEG 02G team, ranked #6 in the US, no? Don't get me wrong, FCEG is a dumpster fire, but that team is solid.

I guess I just included the Vision team since they were first on the list I looked. The FCEG 02G has been a very
good team for awhile. Not so much a dis, but I could have expanded to include that good local team, yes. I may not
be fond of that club, but I will always support good local teams and coaches. Maybe an expanded list including
just regional teams is in order. I know there are other local teams that are pretty good that didn't make the top list.

I know this isn't an EG issue directly, I have kids both at IR and Sac U. I heard the very long time Director at Sac U is leaving or left?
If there was an announcement, did I missed the email? I know I have intentionally stepped away from the drama, but I figure I would
see or hear something. A parent I talked to tonight told me he was already gone?

I heard yesterday he took a job in the Bay Area(Los Gatos United) as a technical director I believe. Nothing on the website so not sure if true or not.

I have heard a rumor that a Charter School in Sacramento is going the direction of a Sports Academy and they have approached AAU Basketball Teams, Gymnastics Clubs, Traveling Baseball Teams and FC Elk Grove to do the soccer portion. I have hard that FC Elk Grove fearless leader AD would not go along with the program so they went to Sac Republic who loved the idea and has paired up with them. From what I have heard it sounds like a great opportunity for kids who are elite athletes to be in an environment to help better their skills. Sac Republic was more than happy to take this program away from FC Elk Grove due to their dislike of AD. This club is closer to becoming Fremont Soccer every day.

This is a joke, right? This isn't Europe. Academies there are free to the elite players that make the cut on a year to year basis.

I really appreciate creative marketing, and this one is tremendous. The idea is to lock in U6 players over the life of their youth soccer careers by placing a $10k carrot out there. The are also dangling the dream of playing for US Soccer...even putting a picture of Megan Rapinoe on their homepage (with a tiny caption that reads: Megan Rapinoe played in Elk Grove. )

    https://www.elkgrovesoccer.com/futurestars/

Elk Grove Soccer presents the FUTURE STARS program, this program is specifically for players born in 2014/15, giving them a chance to showcase their skills and enjoy playing the beautiful game.

U6 future stars program has two major goals. We want your child to fall in love with the game by playing weekly games and fun soccer practices. Secondly we aim to heal the US soccer national team's need for creative high level players. All games will be local around the Elk Grove area to make it optimal to attend practices and games.

Join our program today and two graduating players (one male, one female) will receive $10,000 each on graduating high school and playing soccer in college.

Here is the fine print of the offer:

So after thirteen years of playing for nothing but Elk Grove, my child, might, maybe, possibly get $10,000 if they are the best Elk Grove graduate that year? Sign me up!

Thirteen years ago the Northern California soccer scene was completely different than it is today. Various Elk Grove soccer clubs have formed, turned over, folded, merged and split in that time.

The odds of this award being given at all are zero. And anyone who makes any decisions based on it is a fool.
