100% agree critique. I was just stating what is common practice now for WNT selection.
who's spending that much on private prep counselors???? they are just like captain U, NCSa and I soccer path.
Pomona - west
So did most of the De Anza girls leave at all age groups?
the counselors I was referring to is for college entrance that guides you to pick classes, sports, and extra curriculum activities.
I heard of $10k package that guides students from 9th grade to college application.
My son is not old enough for this but I know some parents doing that.
It's a lot more common in the valley than people think.
on top of the list above post, there are schools like CMU, CalTech, MIT are in D3 for boys.
My point is that predicting the fall of De Anza Force is premature.
It might never produce another national championship teams but as a club, it will do fine(at least for a while).
I see too many parents willing to spend $2-3k a year having their kids play at Force's bronze level teams.
and that's just fine for them.
I believe Force was given GDA initially (http://www.ussoccerda.com/girls-da-final-member-clubs-announcement) and it was renamed to CA Thorns in hopes of keeping both GDA and ECNL.
Now that ECNL is gone, I think they will bring CA Thorns under Force umbrella. It's already showing up at their website (http://www.deanzaforce.org/page/show/997790-united-states-development-academy-boys).
Force's boys' DA lost many kids to Earthqaukes last few years and Force's older DA teams suck.
Now, they are rebuilding with different philosophies, it seems.
03 boys are highly ranked nationally and they boast average GPA of 3.9 across all players.
I'm sure most of them will never be called to YNT and none of them will ever make it as pro. But a lot of them will end up in a great university. There will be plenty of parents that will be happy to spend money for it.
I see this debacle as similar. Force/Thorn (same club in my mind) will try to rebuild at the younger ages. Supposedly, their 05 girls are excellent.
I heard 3 of the better 05 girls left to the Quakes?
Anyone on that 05G team switch over to MVLA? I saw part of the MVLA vs. Davis game today, and it seemed like MVLA had couple new players. Game was tied 1-1 at end of regulation, and MVLA scored 2 quick goals toward end of 2nd OT. Also noticed the MVLA parents (at least a few) being more boisterous than earlier during Spring season; hence, my suspicion of migrant players.
Force only had 2 players leave the 05g Force team just this past weekend and they have already been replaced, they will be missed as they were good players but the couple of new girls that force pick up are as good maybe even better. The 2 that left were not a surprise with there ties to one of the Earthquakes coaches, the 05 roster at Force is still stacked with talent
Did the 05G Force team win the Natinal Cup this past weekend with those 2 player leaving for quakes or without? Either way they looked pretty good against San Juan is the finals..
Thanks Nocalsoccer. The 05G Force played this past weekend without the 2 players who left - and were also missing 2 other key players on vacation. IMO, the roster for this team is fairly deep.
So are Force/Thorns one team now going forward or separate teams? Weren't all or most of the Force05 players at the Thorns tryouts? What's the latest story?
Only some of the Force 05G Jr. ECNL players were able to attend the latest 05G Thorns tryouts. Beginning next Fall, Force/Thorns will more than likely be one unified club moving forward. As far as the latest story - this team is very healthy - great coaching combined with a talented set of non-mean girls and a supportive set of non-crazy parents.
Force always puts out great teams and the parents seem very nice and friendly. I had the privilege of helping coach two of thier players over the last 4 years before they left. I'm glad to see that everything is good. I get to see you one of them once in a great while at our complex and she's is always willing to jump in and help out with my younger team.
So if GDA teams are restricted to play, why am I seeing them in tournaments - i.e. Davis College, National Cup, etc. ?
Because GDA isn't up and running yet.
when does it start ?
September, scheduled link below.
GDA teams can play in anything they want in off months like late June - August. No restrictions during that period. During the season they will have to play DA approved events.
