Obviously Macerio’s a terrific play but the my favorite Stanford player to watch is Jaye Boissiere . Love her style on the ball.

After failing in the NCAA for awhile now(based on their talent), it would be great to see Stanford on top again. This is their best team since they won in 2011 and probably the best college team I've seen the last 15 years since I've paid attention.

Jaye is a good player. Finally healthy and with Sullivan behind her she has the room to roam around the field. I once heard someone say Stanford recruits against their admin and no one else. I laughed but totally agree. No one will turn down Stanford if they get in. Must be nice situation for the staff :) The only issue is for those who don't get in, they go to UCLA! While I think Duke would be the best game in the final, it would be fun to have a Nor Cal vs So Cal national final.

    You accept Stanford if:

    1) you are upper middle class or wealthy
    2) you are poor and are receiving full financial help that you don’t have to pay back
    3) you received greater than 30% scholarship and your parents can afford the 70% OR you are willing to take a loan for 42k per year.

You reject Stanford if you meet none of the above and:

    1) you receive near full tuition at any good tier 1 College that will allow you to play soccer and major in any major you want.

I digressed. Stanford will win it all and will be in the mix for years to come with their WNT roster. Hard to beat.

Yes, no names but I know for a fact there are players who were recruited but couldn't meet one of the 3 above AND they met the final one.

I'm not fishing just curious where your experience comes from like I said above? A lot of parents talk a big game, but where does it come from? Is it real or just talk? I like to learn and am open to others peoples opinions especially if it comes from personal experience. Like you've been there done that or your dd has? I don't feel like reading numerous threads to find that out. Just curious, but if its too much NBD...

Was just asking if your DD played and where? Is that a strange question?

Looking forward to the game tomorrow!!! Stanford will be hard to beat they seem to be a step above everyone else right now... Rooting for UCLA simply because they are the underdog.

I'm rooting for Stanford simply because they are a NorCal school. And also because my DD and I are longtime fans of one of the players.

Go Stanford. Not sure if UCLA will recover in time. That was a long game. Stanford 2-0

University of Portland just hired Michelle French as their new coach. Should be good for recruiting to the Bluff!

And why would someone want to go to Portland? Santa Clara, UOP, St. Mary’s, Loyola, Pepperdine, and USF are better academic schools.

Small school. Catholic education. Hipster culture. Rain. What's not to love? :)

And have any of those other schools every won a national championship?

Isn’t that #3 for titles won by conference after the ACC and Pac12?

Looks that way. Only 2 less than PAC 12 believe it or not.

wcc is the 6th best conference in the USA behind the:

Pac-12, ACC, BIG 12, BIG TEN, SEC

A rep form one of the five have been the champs for the last 15 years.

WCC has very good teams with lots of NorCal players represented. They won’t win another championship however.

Not sure anyone is arguing the point that the WCC is presently on competitive par with the Power 5, @ECNL , or event that it will be in the future. My point was that despite the WCC’s challenges (is there any team other than BYU with a football program? With football comes more $$$ into the athletic department), there have been 3 national championships from that conference - more than from all but the ACC and PAC-12. (Your comment re the last 15 years is provably false but why does that matter if it interferes with a good narrative?)

You wrote, as only you can, “why would someone want to go to Portland?” Portland is a vibrant, diverse city. The school is small with a lot of attention for its student athletes. The school has a great history of supporting women’s soccer on par with the men. The school has a history of success with high-level performers like Rapinoe and Sinclair and returns a coach with deep US Soccer experience (as a player and coach). The BEST GK girls coach (in my opinion) in Northern California is a product of Portland. Maybe that’s the school that offers a really good player a lot of financial support - more than she would at a power 5. Maybe that same player was recruited by Santa Clara and said, “the city of Portland v Santa Clara? No brainer”. Maybe the player is supremely attracted to the PNW for its weather, topography and food. I can think of a ton of reasons why someone would choose that program - soccer and non-soccer reasons, school and non-school - and I’d be psyched for any NorCal player to be a Pilot.

Your questions often confuse me because I don’t think you are asking to get sincere responses or to be provocative but as a rhetorical device. I think you ask because you think you know the answer and your answer is right (and should be obvious to all of us) and others’ answers are not.

I am thankful to @All for One for posting about this new hire. I think she will be awesome for that program.

All points well taken dk. That post reflects my personal feeling about the school which may or may not be shared by others.
