Any 05 DA girls teams coming July 27-29. Three clubs that will be there are Legends, Beach and Eagles. Most of the other sou cal teams are in Surf Cup.

So, Surf Cup has a separate DA bracket, and so does Silverlakes? Wow, talk about further dilution of top competition.

MVLA 05's play very good soccer. But, they should not be confused with their 04 team which is arguably the best in the nation in their age group. In general, PSV teams are very well trained - but tend to lack in numbers. Age groups are commonly combined. It's possible that the 05 PSV team will be stocked with many of the 06's (They had an excellent 06 team) and that some of their 05's that normally play on the 04 team will attend.

    Agree on both.

05 MVLA try to play a good brand of soccer but lack in true talent to be a high level ecnl or da side unless added some great players this last tryout window. It’s a nice team though.

    Bingo on psv.

Surf stopped being the "Best of the Best" when they went to multiple divisions in the age groups. But, yes Surf Cup is also losing most ECNL teams and even some DA teams to the tournament in Silverlakes. In the only DA bracket for the 04's, they still have "DA Placeholder" as one team - 8 days before games start. Of course, many DA teams just left SoCal in late June after the showcase and playoffs. Last year's '04 finalist in the DA group, Solar, isn't coming this year. Hard to believe they weren't interested in traveling to SoCal again for a few more nights in mediocre $300 hotel rooms.

Not sure that that is great competition in the bracket posted. It is good but would I travel to play?... maybe maybe not..

    Not best Norcal teams
    Not best Socal teams
    PSV combined 05/06 team
Both Slammers 05 and 06 teams

Yes, some good teams, and it would be great for everyone to play in one place so there could be the best of the best but Silverlakes 05 as shown is reasonable but not drawing the top competition that surf has in this age today and is not thus is not a good alternative. As folks said before seems just to dilute the overall talent and not add a ton. I get the idea folks are fed up with Surf, rules, cost, travel, etc. and heck want to make some money for their club, thus Silver Lakes.

I am not a surf fan these days... Way too expensive, interestingly questionable privacy required actions, hotels are nuts. If my team was not gong to be in Super Black or DA I would not want to attend (from a parent point of view... value for money). Surf Super Black/DA still seems like the best competition available this time of year in CA...

Cal Cup, interesting but hate the fields
Mustang competition (at least 05s) is getting killed due to conflict with Surf
So Cal Blues... maybe but way late in the summer

I am sure I am missing some but, purely on competition at the event, Surf top brackets still win (and yes it is NOT 16 of the best teams only and the whole surf cup qualifier is completely silly).

I mean really how else is Surf going to pay off their 20K a month rent on the Polo field, oops I mean Surf Soccer Complex (interesting that they moved the older Thursday and Friday DA games to the Del Mar complex, so much for getting a nearby hotel for the olders).

Finally, surf hotels, the process, the cost, the quality do truly suck. =)

Yeah... I guess this is not so much of a sales pitch these days

The Champion Boys & Girls teams from the top division in each age group U9-U18 will be granted automatic acceptance into the 2019 San Diego Surf Cup Tournament in San Diego, California.
And that is the 2019 event

    :)

I am pretty sure the 05's were part of their 04 DA team. On the one game card I saw they listed 7 05's as full-time DA ('04 age group). Yes, their 06 team was very good.

PSV 05/06 is a new team comprised of the 06 team (solid group) plus 3 05s that played on the 04 DA team. That club lost a few 05s (and others) after dropping the DA.

The 06s are good, but they’ve never played 11 v 11. This will also be tough for them to play up a year. You shouldn’t have much difficulty against them.

PSV teams are fluid and ever changing. Sure, this is a "new" team, but you just never know who is going to show up, who is guesting up or down or whatever.

PSV plays good soccer , they were just to young and small to compete with us. 3-0 felt should of been a larger win then it was. MVLA plays beautiful soccer just doesn't have horses 04 does. If we played that well with our athleticism we could be top 5-10 in nation. #5 on MVLA was tearing us up. Reign from Seattle was a solid possession team as well we scored late goal to steal win. they tied slammers who won national cup three years in a row in sou cal. Great to see quality teams from other areas.

ha, I am familiar with being torn up by #5 -- small but tenacious, skilled, and quick and is always in the right place at the right time.

PSV seems to be in an interesting place now that they are not in DA (not sure how a club that size was incorporated into DA in the first place). I think they have always played their better youngers up an age group, so the results in So Cal this last weekend weren't surprising. They should do well if they are going to be playing NPL, but will they lose more of their better players once they reach DA/ECNL age.
