Fair. Just wish an amazing experience was in a neat place too. Uruguay assuming they make it will be nice. Of course, being with the team and representing your country is number 1.

DA will have 2005 and 2006 age groups next year.

    06
    05
    04
    02/03
    01/00

Good luck filling all those for most of nor cal DA with respectable talent. More diluted squads on the way.

The girls that were born in 2000 are heading to college in the Fall.

Maybe DA allows DA/College, but not DA/High School.

Can’t some 00’s be current juniors? Thought 99 was the top end age right now? I know most 00 graduating but has to be handful of junior 00’s or I’m so off :)

Yes. Older Jrs - fall '00 birthdates that did not start K as 4-year-olds.

    06/05 is a combined group

Should add... i would suspect this change has zero effect on most clubs as the group
Will still be mostly 05 with a few 06s who could play up with a top 05 group.. which clubs could do already

Ok didn’t see the combo fact. I think it’s a shame a players team can change so much over a 5 year period. Some change is normal but having to keep changing is a pain. Hope travel for youngers is still readable. Tougher with only 5 da’s And 3 in close proximity

I'm hearing that DA next fall will not allow girls to play high school soccer. I don't know how they enforce this policy but they are going to hold firm on this mandate.

No surprise to me. They want to run it like the boys DA and don't care what most people think. Even if some of those people are doc's. Where did you hear? Just curious if from people close to US soccer or just us parents talking to other parents/coaches

    Thanks.

It won't matter to many but imagine will a good amount of girls who enjoy the HS experience. I doubt many leave current DA club because of it though. I'll grab my popcorn for any other changes and discussion that occur!

Elite players won't leave but I am sure lower 1/3rd and middle third are giving it some thought. If they do leave, there will be kids to replace them.

Any one know what the coach turnout looked like for the GDA event in NC vs. the ECNL event? On paper it looked split.

I'm new here and haven't read the entire thread, but I just looked at the standings and saw that the girls Burlingame U15-U19 teams all went 0-25 and none of them scored a goal all season. I hope I read that incorrectly because that is really embarrassing for the club and no one gets better being completely overmatched like that. Maybe there should be some sort of promotion/relegation for the DA program.

Most of Burlingame's games were actually worse than that: They were forfeits. Word on the street is that they are dropping GDA. Which they should, because anyone with any brain at all knew they weren't in a position to field GDA caliber teams.

It’s besn dropped. That’s why all their spring games show 3-0. You’re saying us soccer doesn’t have a brain?!? Rude :)

I had kids at both showcases and was at the one in North Carolina. I am no fan of NC but am putting that aside. The Florida (December) venue was better both in terms of having nicer fields and a better layout. Both Florida and NC are not in populated areas, but the NC event was further afield and required more driving. The weather in NC wasn't as bad as some were making it out to be - there was one rainy day but it rained all day pretty steadily and some fields had to be closed. I believe all those games were moved to different fields so they were played. Communication around all of that seemed to be good although we weren't personally affected so I can't say that 100% for sure. The temps were cool but perfect for soccer. 1000 times better than the 90+ degree heat in Arizona. All grass fields in NC whereas there were turf fields in Arizona. It is fun to have the feature games, as well as some special event games at the fields. There seemed to be a lot of US scouts/observers and college coaches, but I can't do a direct comparison to the Phoenix event since I wasn't there. The one thing I noticed about the NC event was that it was mainly D1 coaches and more coaches from the Southeast than I've noticed at ECNL events and Vegas Showcase/Surf/Silverlakes, etc. There were not many California schools, public or private, and not many Pacific NW or Western schools either. Summer Showcase will be in SoCal so it will be nice to not have to travel across the country and deal with the time change for the next one!

NC was well run, weather was mild, as said raining one day but okay the rest and that was unusual weather for the time of year.

Fields stayed in reasonable shape throughout.

Driving took time but was not an issue. Nice area with some good schools to see.

Lots of coaches at the games we were at though I expect more is San Diego in June.

Overall players and families very happy with experience.

Michigan Hawks announces that they are dropping DA, putting their two top teams in ECNL, and other top clubs around the country will be doing the same.
Rumor is that those other clubs include FC Stars, PDA, and Eclipse Select. Not looking good for GDA when the top clubs in the northeast and Midwest are bowing out.
