The HS thing isn't so cut and dry. Some leagues mandate kids are done with club right after Thanksgiving. Big issue there with Florida showcase. HS coaches need to be OK with kids missing lots of games but that's their issue :)

I think those 2 clubs would always do the best. Placer should be fairly solid and at least competitive in general. It's interesting placer was the only gda club NOT playing in da division at surf.

That is interesting...I wonder if they had the choice NOT to be in the DA bracket? I wonder how they'll do in league. They did lose to Stars in the Davis final. They've always had a solid program.

Why is GDA at Burlingame and not MVLA?

Mvla didn't want GDA right now basically and their doc is the Burlingame da doc. Foot in the door in case they want to join in coming years is the only reasonable answer.

Yeah, I have read their new guidelines. US Soccer says one thing, but their actions say another. Unlike other leagues, they don't adjust their schedule for the high school soccer season. They have one of their two yearly showcases at the beginning of the high school season, and restart their spring season right in the middle of the high school season and before the playoffs. If a kid chooses to do high school soccer, they miss out on the showcase and a few games on the spring(could be more depending on how deep into the playoffs their school team goes). Not much of a choice there.

Well it appears the quakes will have a great season playing the likes of PSV and Burlingame. That's a waste of time.

Ecnl and NPL need to continue focusing on quality of play ( placing and dropping teams accordingly) and making improvements for players, coaches and clubs. Both have a head start on GDA and could flatten them if good business decisions are made.

Both ecnl and NPL seem to do a good job of balancing the competition at events. GDA clearly has some work to do.

Did anyone see the 01/02 Blues game versus Crossfire? Even with a couple 02s missing for national camp they seemed pretty unstoppable. I'm curious to know what the game was like.

Everything I said a in march still holds. MVLA likes to move slowly when looking at new leagues.

    Clearly a good decision.

MVLA didn't join ECNL at first either (if I remember right, we waited until the second expansion round).

MVLA didn't join Norcal at first either. Several seasons went by, and then we switched piecemeal from CYSA. Our last low-level teams didn't switch for a very long time (there may even be a few still playing CYSA, I'm not as wired in as I used to be).

So it doesn't surprise me at all that MVLA is slow to take up GDA as well. We've always taken a wait-and-see approach.

Personally, I hope we don't take up the GDA. I was mostly on the ECNL bandwagon relatively early--it offered something not available anywhere else. But GDA doesn't. But if GDA does become the avenue for girls' success, I'm sure we will join.
