Wasn't impressed with Socal's style of play or lack thereof yesterday and today. Kick and run was popular, no build up no possession, at least for most teams I watched. Some great athleticism and some very aggressive teams.

Bananamama - that's how it was last year as well at U13 (the U12, this current U13 group, had more competive games). However, almost half the games were either ties or decided by 1 goal and of the remainder (2+ or more), a few had NorCal on the winning side. That said, the SoCal teams are faster, contest every ball, commit to physical play. I thought Surf was really impressive this year in their quality of play but it is hard for me to criticize a fast attack playing less possession if their teams don't need that to get into their shooting area (though I get what Fastfootskills is saying).

The SoCal teams do play a different game in many ways and playing 4 games on a hot weekend is a big challenge as their style takes a lot of their opponents. Deep benches, great fitness and lots of toughness are key (well, I guess always).

Toneib: not sure about SoCal but among the U13 NorCal teams, it was a mix. I know that some new coaches and new players were there (and that included some new systems to be implemented) while other teams saw this as the "end" of the '14/'15 season and won't have the new players for a bit.

All of the SoCal teams have made some changes. I believe Eagles and Real So Cal were the most intact, not adding or subtracting from their roster. Not 100% positive, but they looked the same. Slammers only retained 4 girls from last year and the team represented in this event was a combination of their 3 teams. West Coast added 8 while losing 5 girls. This was their first time playing together after only one practice as a team. Surf was relatively the same team, only adding 4.

RSC made at least 2 massive additions who without a doubt are now their 2 best players!
