OMG. you're serious. I thought that was a joke until I went to the website. Seriously, US Soccer?? Yeah, let's put everything in a spreadsheet, that's the ticket! Hey, our computer data says that you should be running XXX and you're not. Forget that whole creativity, love of the game, soccer IQ, fun--nah, let's just put heart monitors on you and compare you to your peers solely on how much you are running. Sheesh.

On another note, after handing local clubs in the Sac region U12 boys "DA" designation, just this season, it was announced
recently US Soccer already pulling the plug on the Academy designation next season! Sac United is listed this season with
other local clubs, but I guess all gone next year after just a single season! More nuttiness from US Soccer. Luckily my boy
is heading off to college out of youth soccer next year.

I find it amusing that people often talk about development over winning, but basically panic and cry "change everything" when any the US national team (men or women, boys or girls) drops a few games.

What we really, really should do is stop allowing US Soccer's needs from determining everyone else's plans structure. US Soccer wants to develop players capable of winning on the world stage--that is the only thing they care about--they don't do that very well, but that is a separate issue. They can do whatever they want, and the rest of us should go our own way.

Great article, thanks for posting. Inside that article was a link to another article about Hallie Mace. A perfect example of an incredible player overlooked by pretty much all Div 1 colleges and US Soccer as well. According to the article, by the end of her junior year, Hallie hadn't received a single call or an email from any college coach. She caught UCLA's eye by sending Amanda Cromwell a highlight video. Yes, she chose to play at a smaller club, but her story is exactly why US Soccer is crazy to focus on DA versus all other avenues. I also like the fact that Hallie played 2 sports, something she believes was a very big part of her success. Very interesting read: https://www.vcstar.com/story/sports...ace-proves-gem-ucla-soccer-program/788031001/

High school soccer clearly stunted Hallie Mace's development.

There’s a player named Steph curry who had NO D1 offers until
    Tiny Davidson offered.

He was skinny, not the fastest, weak, etc but had a lot of skill.
Look at him now, he transcends basketball and changed he way the sport is played.

Basketball scouting is light years ahead of soccer and they MISSED.
Imagine how many skilled soccer players are being missed by US Soccer. A lot.
