All of the Saturday game at ECNL New Jersey were cancelled Saturday due to wet fields. It's not clear if Sunday's games will be cancelled too. I was curious how cancelled games are recorded. At first I thought all would be recorded as a 0-0 tie but then I realized that could lower a teams PPG. Some teams are on the very cusp of making it into the playoffs via a Wildcard, and all games are included (Conference and National Events) when calculating PPG. A team who didn't go to PDA could have an advantage over a team would did go and they get 1, possibly 2 games recorded as a tie. It seems the only fair thing would be to not count those games at all. After all, they aren't "games played". This isn't necessarily an ECNL question, it could apply to other tournaments. Just curious if anyone knows what happens in those circumstances. It would be such a bummer if a team on the cusp lost their first game, the only game they got to play. So much money!
