As far as I can see, the NorCal rankings reflect what I am saying...Clearly they are ranking the teams differently than the parents of these teams...

If rankings and wins meant more to me than development, then I would have stacked my team to win from the beginning instead of trying to develop a pool of players. across two teams. I questioned the logic for someone dropping our team down the ranking based on the results of Play Dates.

So are you justifying winning and rankings based on the fact that you are forking out a lot of money? That would be part of the overall problem.

Of course you can win and develop, but there are coaches that sacrifice development for winning and despite the fact that rankings are fun and interesting, they do promote those coaches to make that sacrifice and that is where the kids lose out.

Next weekend will tell us a lot. We shall see the outcome and whose rankings are more accurate.

Winning and rankings at U Little don't always represent development. Kids mature at different ages. The bigger stronger faster kids may not get the technical and tactical part of the game as they get older but win at younger ages, they only rely on their early growth spurt. Not to say rankings cant be fun for us parents at young ages. But lets face it plenty of kids who were studs at young ages in whatever sport you played weren't necessarily the stud as they grew older.

It might, it might not. You will probably say its an excuse, but we don't have everyone available for this tournament, but we are going anyways because it is about the experience. We will not be going out and looking for guest players from other clubs like some would either. We will bring up the next couple players and compete. We will still have a very strong squad, capable of winning, but it will not be easy considering the group we are in.

I hear you about play dates. But, didn't you guys lose to MVLA, a team ranked below you, in the Sporting Invitational? And, if Mustang doesn't tell us something about the rankings, I guess you are saying that the State Cup is the only thing that matters.

Don't you think many clubs will be missing players for the same reasons? Someone from Burlingame blamed kids playing in the heat for their less than optimal performance... as if all the teams weren't playing in the same heat.

True, Scotty but it is a huge difference if you play in the heat day in, day out, and if you typically play 70 degrees and then go try to play in 100 degree temperatures. I've seen it over and over -- in league play we straddle cooler and warmer temps, and the teams that we beat when they come to the cool side, our girls wilt and play lethargically and lose when we go to the hot side and the weather is bad. It makes a HUGE difference what you are acclimated to.

Fair enough... but it hasn't been 100 degrees in Sacramento since March. I can understand your point but think it's more impacted by other factors like missing players, ill players, level of competition, etc. I've seen teams look great at a 10 am game and clearly their bodies were overtaken by aliens when they played again at 3 pm. Or vice versa.

    Juventus will beat them 3-0.
Watched Surf and wasn't that impressed and they had easiest group.
Mustang vs Manteca and San Juan vs Ajax will be better games to watch.
The San Juan group was most competitive/entertaining of the four groups.
Nice weekend, there should have either been semis or a premier and gold level with eight teams each. There were teams that could not compete.

Juventus looked really strong, relentless. They are at another level. Rage did their best to stay with them, just unable to stop counter (even gave up a couple of own goals). I suspect they will easily handle Surf.

Surf lost in PK's in the State Cup final this year, so if Juventus handles Surf, you could say that Juventus is the best GU10 team in the state.

EDIT ****Important Information: The U9 - U11 Girls being held in July will be using the 2014/2015 calendar.

So the above Surf team I mentioned is not the one up at Mustang. My Error after reading they are using 2014/2015 calendar.

Juve won 1-0. Exciting game. Juve was just bit more tenacious.
